Our club was organized in the summer of 2009 and our first 3-D Archery Shoot was held
on August 1, 2009 at Ross Park in southern Page County.
We now have a 40 target 3-D archery course consisting of deer, bears, turkeys, and many other game animals, with shooting lanes ranging from 20 to 40 yards. There is also a target range to sight in your bow and warm up.
Hope you can join us!
Due to popular demand, we are now scoring the 12 ring on all 40 targets. Our score cards reflect this change. Check out the Competition Results page to see how everyone did.
Clint Wooten was on fire, taking the top score for the second month in a row! Nice shootin', Clint! There are photos posted below from the trail camera on the tree next to one of the stands.
The Pop-Up Shoot at the Taylor County Fair on Saturday, July 21st was a lot of fun. The top three shooters for each category is listed on the Competition Results page. Photos of this shoot and the winners are below the treestand pictures on this page.
We added a NIGHT shoot on Saturday, July 28. The ladies did exceptionally well, as you can see by the scores posted.
We also added a new game for the July shoot that was very popular: Frog Practice.
Clay pidgeons are attached to bag targets. For $5.00 you get 12 shots: 3 each at 20 yards, 30 yards, 35 yards, and 40 yards. For each pidgeon you break, you get 1, 2, 3, or 4 points, depending on the distance. The shooter with the highest score at the end wins half the pot!
We ended up with a tie for first place with 17 points each for the first round of this game, so the winner was decided by criteria. Joel Browning broke all three targets at 40 yards and was crowned the winner. See the Competition Results page to see how everyone else did.
The scores for the final shoot of our season are now posted. There were lots of great prizes given away at our Appreciation shoot.
We also had another round of Frog Practice. Rick Horn was the big winner there this week.
The top three combined scores from our September shoot and the September 2012 shoot at Fogle Lake 3D of Diagonal are now posted to the Results page to wrap up another great year of archery. The competition for the men's Bowhunter division was fierce, with only a single point separating the top three scores, with the top score being decided by criteria. Congrats to Bill Harrison for edging out the competition for the top spot!
We could not have ordered nicer weather for the April 2013 shoot! Even with turkey season still going on, we had a great turnout with a lot of new faces. We hope you first-timers on our course enjoyed it and will come back for more (and bring your friends).
The competition was fierce for our May shoot, with first place being determined by criteria. Ty Green edged out Bill Harrison by hitting 14 12-rings compared to Bill's 10, after tying for top honors with a score of 408 in the Bowhunter class. Congratulations to both of you for a great round!
We had an awesome turnout for our July shoot, and for a good cause. It was decided to make this shoot a benefit for one of our own. Terry Hadden was recently diagnosed with bone cancer, and we wanted to use the proceeds from our July event to help him with mounting medical costs.
The Hadden family asked to post the following message to the club members and all of our guests:
"We were overwhelmed by the generosity of fellow shooters, friends and family at the Archery shoot this weekend hosted by the Southwest Iowa Bowhunters Association. Your efforts, contributions and caring will never be forgotten and are greatly appreciated! A special thanks to the members who made this such a great event!!!!
Terry and Arilla Hadden
Brian, Dawn, Chase and Tucker Hadden
Joel Hadden and Amber Schmidt
Scores from this shoot are now posted. We also added a two person team shoot this month to spice things up a little.
August scores are now posted after another great turnout for our share of the Midwest Triple Crown. Congrats to Ty Green for the high score.
The 2014 Schedule is now set. Please note a few changes. Due to the weather and conflicts with turkey hunting season, we have decided to forego the March and April shoots this year. The first shoot of 2014 will be in May. We also decided not to participate in the Triple Crown this year, but will still be part of the Midwest 100 with the Fogle Lake club.
The club purchased a building in Bedford that all members are able to come shoot anytime they want. Please see a club member to get a key to get in. We are looking at putting in a bow press and an arrow saw for members to use as well.
There are seven classes of competition for each shoot:
